2009 Rifle Season

I can't count how many times I have heard conversations in the store about how there just aren't any big deer in Vermont any more and how it isn't even worth hunting here. I just wish people would stop shooting monster racks like these, it make it hard to participate in those conversations.

One of the things I love about hunting is how it brings generations together. There is no greater bonding experience among family members than gathering over a freshly killed animal. Well . . . there may be better, but this is still pretty darn good.

Imagine for a moment your excitement at shooting your first buck. Then imagine that your first buck looks like this. The only bad part about this being this man's first deer is that he is going to be hard pressed to better it next year.
